2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of
Gary Wendell Poynor of Benton, who passed |
4 | | away on September 2, 2011; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was born on July 10, 1940, in Hamilton |
6 | | County; he was the son of Loren and Wilma (Nalley) Poynor; he |
7 | | married the love of his life, the former Linda Kay Evans, on |
8 | | July 18, 1959; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a concrete finisher and |
10 | | contractor; he was the owner and operator of Poynor Concrete; |
11 | | he also formerly served as a business agent for the OP and CMIA |
12 | | and worked for the J.W. Reynolds Monument Company as a sales |
13 | | representative; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a member of the Oddfellows Charity |
15 | | Lodge in Benton, where he served as Noble Grand; he was also a |
16 | | member of the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery Board in Benton |
17 | | and the New Life Church of God in Benton; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor enjoyed restoring antique automobiles |
19 | | in his later years; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was preceded in death by his parents; |

1 | | his loving wife, Linda; his stepfather, Joe Carroll; his |
2 | | brothers, Richard and Paul Poynor; and his sister, Melba |
3 | | Higgerson; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, Gary Poynor is survived by his children, Steve |
5 | | Poynor and his wife, Tammy, and Rebecca Wallace and her |
6 | | husband, David; his grandchildren, Larry Levault, Jared |
7 | | Westerland, Tyler, Joshua, and Alyssa Poynor, Bethany, |
8 | | Madison, Savannah Grace, and Max Wallace; his sister, Mary |
9 | | Lampley; his half-brother, Jim Carroll; his |
10 | | great-granddaughter, Jayda Kay Kind; his special niece, Rhonda |
11 | | Trusty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
14 | | his family and friends, the passing of Gary Wendell Poynor; and |
15 | | be it further

16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
17 | | presented to the family of Gary Poynor as an expression of our |
18 | | sympathy.
