SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Glenn Roberson of Peoria, who passed away
4on March 10, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born on November 3, 1938, in Chidester,
6Arkansas; he married Angela "Nickie" Murray on April 28, 1984,
7in Elon, North Carolina; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He received his bachelor's degree from Illinois
9State University and his master's degree from Bradley
10University; he began his career as a teacher at Irving Grade
11School and a sociology instructor at St. Francis School of
12Nursing; for more than 27 years, he was a well-known college
13administrator at Illinois Central College, where he served as
14Vice President of Student Services and Vice President of School
15and State Relations; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was affiliated with various educational,
17professional, and community organizations, including the
18Peoria and Illinois Education Associations, the Illinois ACT
19Advisory Board, the Peoria Race Relations Committee, the Peoria
20Tri-County Urban League, and the Peoria Jaycees; he was a
21sports enthusiast and an avid reader; and

1    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Tony
2Roberson, his mother, Blanch Thorn Roberson Little; his
3brother, Henry Roberson, and his sister, Josephine Cruse; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Glenn Roberson is survived by his wife, Nickie
5Roberson; his sons, Lance (Patti Seep) Roberson, Eric Roberson
6and Keith (Dawn) Roberson; his sister, Geraldine Harris; and
7his two loving grandsons, Jaden and Kai; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10his family and friends, the passing of Glenn Roberson; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Glenn Roberson as a symbol of our
14sincere sympathy.
