Amends the Cemetery Oversight Act. Provides that no cemetery controlled by a for-profit cemetery authority shall be permitted to conduct more than 10 funerals in a day if the cemetery has only one entry. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Cemetery Oversight Act is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 20-8 as follows: |
6 | | (225 ILCS 411/20-8) |
7 | | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2021)

8 | | Sec. 20-8. Vehicle traffic control. A cemetery authority |
9 | | shall use its reasonable best efforts to ensure that funeral |
10 | | processions entering and exiting the cemetery grounds do not |
11 | | obstruct traffic on any street for a period in excess of 10 |
12 | | minutes, except where such funeral procession is continuously |
13 | | moving or cannot be moved by reason of circumstances over which |
14 | | the cemetery authority has no reasonable control. The cemetery |
15 | | authority shall use its reasonable best efforts to help prevent |
16 | | multiple funeral processions from arriving at the cemetery |
17 | | simultaneously. No cemetery controlled by a for-profit |
18 | | cemetery authority shall be permitted to conduct more than 10 |
19 | | funerals in a day if the cemetery has only one entry. |
20 | | Notwithstanding any provision of this Act to the contrary, a |
21 | | cemetery authority that violates the provisions of this Section |
22 | | shall be guilty of a business offense and punishable by a fine |
23 | | of not more than $500 for each offense.
