Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that an electric utility or an alternative retail electric supplier shall display the last day of the term of service on the customer's periodic billing statement when a term of service is established through a contract.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 16-119 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (220 ILCS 5/16-119)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 16-119. Switching suppliers. |
| 8 | | (a) An electric utility or an alternative retail electric
|
| 9 | | supplier may establish a term of service, notice period for
|
| 10 | | terminating service and provisions governing early termination
|
| 11 | | through a tariff or contract. A customer may change its
|
| 12 | | supplier subject to tariff or contract terms and conditions.
|
| 13 | | Any notice provisions; or provision for a fee, charge or
|
| 14 | | penalty with early termination of a contract; shall be
|
| 15 | | conspicuously disclosed in any tariff or contract. A customer
|
| 16 | | shall remain responsible for any unpaid charges owed to an
|
| 17 | | electric utility or alternative retail electric supplier at
the |
| 18 | | time it switches to another provider.
|
| 19 | | (b) An electric utility or an alternative retail electric |
| 20 | | supplier shall display the last day of the term of service on |
| 21 | | the customer's periodic billing statement when a term of |
| 22 | | service is established through a contract. |
