Amends the Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act. Provides that the Carnival-Amusement Safety Board shall consist of 9 (now, 8) members. Sets forth requirements concerning qualifications of the appointed members. Further provides that a majority of the 9 (now, 8) members of the Board constitutes a quorum. Effective immediately.

1 | | AN ACT concerning safety.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Sections 2-3 and 2-4 as follows:
|
6 | | (430 ILCS 85/2-3) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 4053)

7 | | Sec. 2-3. There is hereby created the Carnival-Amusement |
8 | | Safety Board,
hereafter in this Act referred to as the "Board", |
9 | | to consist of 9 8
members. One member shall be the Director. |
10 | | Eight Seven members shall
be appointed by the Governor with the |
11 | | advice and consent of the Senate.
The term of members shall be |
12 | | 4 years, except that of those members initially
appointed by |
13 | | the Governor, 1 shall be appointed for 3 years and 1 shall
be |
14 | | appointed for 4 years, and of the members initially appointed |
15 | | pursuant
to this amendatory Act of 2006, 1 shall be appointed |
16 | | for 3 years. Of the
8 7 appointed members of the Board, 2 1 |
17 | | shall be operators an operator of amusement rides who |
18 | | reasonably represent the different geographic areas of the |
19 | | State, 1 shall be an operator of fixed site amusement rides, 1 |
20 | | shall represent an association of agricultural fairs, 1 shall |
21 | | represent the amusement ride manufacturer industry , 1 shall be |
22 | | a registered professional engineer, 1 shall represent the |
23 | | insurance industry, and 1 shall represent the general public. |
