Amends the Criminal Code of 1961 concerning the offense of concealing or aiding a fugitive. Eliminates the exemption from violating the statute for persons standing in the relation of husband, wife, parent,
child, brother, or sister to the offender.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning criminal law.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 31-5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (720 ILCS 5/31-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 31-5)

| 7 | | Sec. 31-5. Concealing or aiding a fugitive.
|
| 8 | | Every person not standing in the relation of husband, wife, |
| 9 | | parent,
child, brother or sister to the offender, who, with |
| 10 | | intent to prevent the
apprehension of the offender, conceals |
| 11 | | his knowledge that an offense has
been committed or harbors, |
| 12 | | aids or conceals the offender, commits a Class 4
felony.
