Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that local units of government shall report to the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Department shall post on its official website all preferred truck routes under the local unit of government's jurisdiction which are not classified as Class II or Class III truck routes. Provides that local units of government shall report their designated truck route network or lack of truck routes to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Provides that the Secretary of State shall include in its commercial drivers license curriculum and study guide, and in materials relating to obtaining or renewing a commercial drivers license, the distinctions between utilizing a truck-attributed global positioning system device and other non-truck-attributed global positioning system devices. Effective January 1, 2012.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Sections 11-214 and 11-215 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 11-214. Local government reporting. |
| 8 | | (a) Local units of government shall report to the Illinois |
| 9 | | Department of Transportation and the Department shall post on |
| 10 | | its official website all preferred truck routes under the local |
| 11 | | unit of government's jurisdiction which are not classified as |
| 12 | | Class II or Class III truck routes. |
| 13 | | (b) Local units of government shall report their designated |
| 14 | | truck route network to the Illinois Department of |
| 15 | | Transportation. If a local unit of government has no designated |
| 16 | | truck routes, the local unit of government shall affirm to the |
| 17 | | Department that it has no designated truck routes.
