Amends the Public Water Supply Regulation Act. Provides that the rules of the Illinois Department of Public Health concerning the addition of fluoride to public water supplies shall incorporate the recommendations on optimal fluoridation for community water levels as proposed and adopted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Effective immediately.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Public Water Supply Regulation Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 7a as follows:
|
6 | | (415 ILCS 40/7a) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 121g1)

7 | | Sec. 7a.
In order to protect the dental health of all |
8 | | citizens, especially
children, the Department shall promulgate |
9 | | rules to provide for the addition
of fluoride to public water |
10 | | supplies by the owners or official custodians
thereof. Such |
11 | | rules shall incorporate the recommendations on optimal |
12 | | fluoridation for community water levels as proposed and adopted |
13 | | by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provide for |
14 | | the addition of the fluoride to the
water supplies so as to |
15 | | maintain a fluoride content of not less than 0.9
milligram per |
16 | | liter nor more than 1.2 milligrams per liter .
