2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Toll Highway Act is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 5 as follows:
|

7 | | Sec. 5.
Of the
the original directors, other than the |
8 | | chairman, so appointed
by the Governor, 3 shall hold office for |
9 | | 2 years and 3 shall hold office
for 4 years, from the date of |
10 | | their appointment and until their
respective successors shall |
11 | | be duly appointed and qualified, but shall
be subject to |
12 | | removal by the Governor for incompetency, neglect of duty
or |
13 | | malfeasance. In case of vacancies in such offices during the |
14 | | recess
of the Senate, the Governor shall make a temporary |
15 | | appointment until the
next meeting of the Senate when he shall |
16 | | nominate some person to fill such
office and any person so |
17 | | nominated, who is confirmed by the Senate, shall
hold office |
18 | | during the remainder of the term and until his successor shall

19 | | be appointed and qualified. The respective term of the first |
20 | | directors
appointed shall be designated by the Governor at the |
21 | | time of appointment,
but their successors shall each be |
22 | | appointed for a term of four years,
except that any person |
23 | | appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve only for the
unexpired |
