| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing

| 34-83.1 as follows:

| (105 ILCS 5/34-83.1) (from Ch. 122, par. 34-83.1)

| Sec. 34-83.1. Residence requirements. Residency within |
| 8 |
| any school district
governed by this Article, if not required |
| 9 |
| at the time of employment as a
qualification of employment,
|
| 10 |
| shall not be considered in determining the
employment or the
|
| 11 |
| compensation of a teacher or whether to retain, promote, |
| 12 |
| assign, or
transfer
that teacher.

| Section 90. The State Mandates Act is amended by adding |
| 15 |
| Section 8.34 as follows:
|

| (30 ILCS 805/8.34 new) |
| 17 |
| Sec. 8.34. Exempt mandate. Notwithstanding Sections 6 and 8 |
| 18 |
| of this Act, no reimbursement by the State is required for the |
| 19 |
| implementation of any mandate created by this amendatory Act of |
| 20 |
| the 96th General Assembly.
