Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Provides that the Secretary of Human Services shall appoint an individual within the Department to
coordinate with other State agencies to ensure that all
programs that impact the prevention and treatment of diabetes are coordinated, that
duplication of efforts are minimized, and that the impact of such programs are
maximized in an attempt to reduce the health consequences and complications of
diabetes in Illinois. Provides that the Department shall serve as the central repository
for the State of Illinois for data related to the prevention and treatment of diabetes.

| AN ACT concerning State government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is amended |
5 |
| by adding Section 10-65 as follows: |
6 |
| (20 ILCS 1305/10-65 new) |

| Sec. 10-65. Diabetes prevention and treatment. |
8 |
| (a) The Secretary shall appoint an individual within the |
9 |
| Department to
coordinate with other State agencies to ensure |
10 |
| that all
programs that impact the prevention and treatment of |
11 |
| diabetes are coordinated, that
duplication of efforts are |
12 |
| minimized, and that the impact of such programs are
maximized |
13 |
