AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1383

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1383 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by
5changing Section 8 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 85/8)  (from Ch. 111, par. 4128)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8    Sec. 8. Licensure by endorsement; emergency licensure. The
9The Department may, in its discretion, license as a pharmacist,
10without examination, on payment of the required fee, an
11applicant who is so licensed under the laws of another U.S.
12jurisdiction or another country, if the requirements for
13licensure in the other jurisdiction in which the applicant was
14licensed, were, at the date of his or her licensure deemed by
15the Board to be substantially equivalent to the requirements
16then in force in this State.

1    A person holding an active, unencumbered license in good
2standing in another jurisdiction who applies for a license
3pursuant to Section 7 of this Act due to a natural disaster or
4catastrophic event in another jurisdiction may be temporarily
5authorized by the Secretary to practice pharmacy pending the
6issuance of the license. This temporary authorization shall
7expire upon issuance of the license or upon notification that
8the Department has denied licensure.
9    Upon a declared Executive Order due to an emergency caused
10by a natural or manmade disaster or any other exceptional
11situation that causes an extraordinary demand for pharmacist
12services, the Department may issue a pharmacist who holds a
13license to practice pharmacy in another state an emergency
14license to practice in this State.
