Proposes to amend the Legislature Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that an Executive or a Judicial officer may be impeached by the House of Representatives by the vote of three-fifths of the members elected (instead of a majority). Effective upon being declared adopted.

| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |

| SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the |
6 |
| electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general |
7 |
| election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of |
8 |
| this resolution a proposition to change Section 14 of Article |
9 |
| IV as follows:

| THE LEGISLATURE

| SECTION 14. IMPEACHMENT
|
14 |
| The House of Representatives has the sole power to conduct |
15 |
| legislative
investigations to determine the existence of cause |
16 |
| for impeachment and,
by the vote of three-fifths a majority of |
17 |
| the members elected, to impeach Executive
and Judicial |
18 |
| officers. Impeachments shall be tried by the Senate. When
|
19 |
| sitting for that purpose, Senators shall be upon oath, or |
20 |
| affirmation,
to do justice according to law. If the Governor is |
21 |
| tried, the Chief
Justice of the Supreme Court shall preside. No |
22 |
| person shall be convicted
without the concurrence of two-thirds |
23 |
| of the Senators elected. Judgment
shall not extend beyond |
