Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that, subject to appropriation, the Department shall administer a Condemned Housing Remediation Program. Provides that the Director shall make grants to municipalities for the purpose of demolishing condemned housing. Defines "condemned housing". Effective July 1, 2007.

| AN ACT concerning housing.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic |
5 |
| Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
6 |
| amended by adding Section 605-960 as follows: |
7 |

| Sec. 605-960. Condemned housing remediation. Subject to |
9 |
| appropriation, the Department shall administer a Condemned |
10 |
| Housing Remediation Program. The Director shall make grants to |
11 |
| municipalities for the purpose of demolishing condemned |
12 |
| housing. |

| For purposes of this Act, "condemned housing" means any |
14 |
| residence or residential structure found by the State or any |
15 |
| unit of local government, pursuant to the requirements of law |
16 |
| or ordinance, to be unfit for that purpose.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
18 |
| 2007.
