| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives of |
4 |
| citizens of the State of Illinois; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Ali Omahen, of Schlarman High School in Danville, |
6 |
| Illinois, has been selected as the News-Gazette Volleyball |
7 |
| Player of the Year; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Ali Omahen thought that playing volleyball meant |
9 |
| giving up swimming; but through the advice of her coach and |
10 |
| others, she has, in the words of her mother, "gone from a |
11 |
| swimmer who plays volleyball to a volleyball player who swims"; |
12 |
| and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Ali became a varsity starter in volleyball her |
14 |
| sophomore year and, by her senior year, led the Hilltoppers to |
15 |
| a school record for wins (29) and a berth in the Class A Elite |
16 |
| Eight; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Ali somehow found time to serve as the 2006 |
18 |
| homecoming queen at Schlarman High School when she was not on |
19 |
| the courts; and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, Ali was the only Class A area athlete with at |
21 |
| least 600 assists and 100 kills for the season; though starting |
22 |
| as an outside hitter, she has found her place as the team |
23 |
| setter; and |
24 |
| WHEREAS, Ali Omahen can thank her coach, Jamison Keummerle, |
25 |
| for sticking with her, recruiting her, and seeing her |
26 |
| potential; as a result of her hard work, she is receiving |
27 |
| scholarship offers from many colleges across the State; |
