| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Illinois citizens who have |
4 |
| accomplished much in their lives; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Reverend Robert E. Lee of Moline, Illinois is one |
6 |
| such individual; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Robert E. Lee was born and educated in Alexis, |
8 |
| Illinois; he attended and graduated from St. Ambrose University |
9 |
| and St. Meinrad Seminary; he was ordained into the priesthood |
10 |
| in 1959 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria, Illinois; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, In 1959 he was assigned to the Sacred Heart Parish |
12 |
| in Moline; he would go on to spend his entire ministry in that |
13 |
| city, accumulating 40 years at Sacred Heart and 3 years at St. |
14 |
| Mary's; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Under his leadership, Sacred Heart Parish became |
16 |
| the largest parish in the Peoria Diocese; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to leading his parish, Reverend Lee |
18 |
| also found time to serve on many boards and commissions; he |
19 |
| served as a member of the Priest's Senate in the Peoria |
20 |
| Diocese; he served as a member of the Diocesan Consultors and |
21 |
| the Diocesan Finance Commission; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, Reverend Lee was Vicar of the Rock Island |
23 |
| Vicariate from 1974 to 1986 and again from 1991 to 1998; he |
24 |
| served on the Board of Education for Alleman High School, |
25 |
| Sacred Heart School, and Seton Catholic School; he served on |
26 |
| the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees and also the Lutheran |
27 |
| Hospital Board of Directors; and
|
28 |
| WHEREAS, In 2001, Reverend Lee was awarded an Honorary |
