| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Mr. J. Michael |
4 |
| Callahan on the occasion of the dedication of the J. Michael |
5 |
| Callahan Southeast Wastewater Treatment Facility; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Callahan graduated from Bloomington High |
7 |
| School 1966, where he was a member of the National Honor |
8 |
| Society and enjoyed playing Raider football; he attended |
9 |
| Illinois State University from 1966 to 1967 and then served in |
10 |
| the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971, when he was honorably |
11 |
| discharged with the rank of staff sergeant; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, He received a B.S. in biological sciences and |
13 |
| environmental health with a chemistry minor from Illinois State |
14 |
| University in 1975; he earned an M.A. in biological sciences |
15 |
| with an emphasis on ecosystem nutrient cycling in 1977; he also |
16 |
| did doctoral studies in biological sciences at Illinois State |
17 |
| University; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, From 1988 until July 28, 2006, Mr. Callahan served |
19 |
| as the Executive Director for the Bloomington-Normal Water |
20 |
| Reclamation District; prior to that, he served as Assistant |
21 |
| Director, Director of Operations, and Chemist for the |
22 |
| Bloomington-Normal Sanitary District; and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, He served as Illinois Section Chairman and State |
24 |
| Association Trustee for the Central States Water Environment |
25 |
| Association (CSWEA) and was awarded the organization's |
26 |
| Hatfield Award for significant personal contribution to the |
27 |
| profession; he has served as President through ascending chairs |
28 |
| of the Illinois Association of Water Pollution Control |
29 |
| Operators and the Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies |
30 |
| (IAWA)and has also served as chairman of several IAWA |
31 |
| committees; he was awarded the Outstanding IAWA Member Award |
