| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Matthew Coll has been chosen as the West Suburban |
3 |
| Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Youth Employee of the Year; |
4 |
| and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, The Youth Employee of the Year Award is given to |
6 |
| an outstanding employee who demonstrates reliability, good |
7 |
| customer service, or the ability to work well with others, go |
8 |
| above and beyond, catch on quickly, rise to the occasion, or |
9 |
| overcome obstacles, or who demonstrates other worthy |
10 |
| characteristics; the award is one of four Pride of the Future |
11 |
| Youth Awards given by the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and |
12 |
| Industry; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew has worked as part of the Workforce |
14 |
| Investment Act (WIA) work experience program; he has grown from |
15 |
| someone who struggled to know his own abilities to someone who |
16 |
| now defines how he needs and wants to grow; he overcomes |
17 |
| incredible obstacles on a daily basis that few in our society |
18 |
| neither recognize nor begin to understand; and |
19 |
| WHEREAS, In an effort to gain and build relationships with |
20 |
| others, Matthew takes the time to learn many things, whether |
21 |
| those things interest him specifically or not; he is reliable |
22 |
| and pushes himself into new territory, taking responsibility |
23 |
| for his daily goals; he has become a team player who takes |
24 |
| responsibility for his actions and is a good friend to others; |
25 |
| and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew has learned to adapt to new situations and |
27 |
| has learned to advocate for himself by informing his |
28 |
| supervisors, co-workers, and others of his weaknesses and his |
29 |
| strengths; his ability to move forward daily, regardless of the |
30 |
| barriers he faces, is inspiring; he is the living embodiment of |
31 |
| the phrase "never give up"; and

| WHEREAS, Matthew's hard work and independence is an asset |
2 |
| to his work team; he has shown self-determination, team spirit, |
3 |
| and initiative by consistently performing his tasks, helping |
4 |
| others when he has completed his own duties, and demonstrating |
5 |
| a willingness to take on new tasks; he has definitely had a |
6 |
| positive impact on the work experience program; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew has learned that it is okay to ask for |
8 |
| help and to think things through, and that success only comes |
9 |
| after many failures; he has also learned to be more cooperative |
10 |
| with others; maturity is one of his major accomplishments, as |
11 |
| he is better at having conversations, quieter, more mindful of |
12 |
| others, and more respectful of the opinions of others; and |
13 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew is intelligent, inquisitive, generous |
14 |
| with his knowledge, and often manages to get everyone around |
15 |
| him smiling; he is an assistant coach for the Special Olympics |
16 |
| Track and Field for the South East Association for Special |
17 |
| Parks and Recreation (SEASPAR) and has assisted his father in |
18 |
| coaching Special Olympics swimming and cross country skiing; |
19 |
| and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Matthew's interests include paleontology, |
21 |
| designing theme parks, and making science fiction movies; he |
22 |
| enjoys visiting friends on weekends, watching television, |
23 |
| reading books, fishing, and traveling; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
25 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
26 |
| we congratulate Matthew Coll on being chosen as the West |
27 |
| Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Youth Employee of |
28 |
| the Year and wish him the very best in his future
endeavors; |
