| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The Red River Queen, the F-105 fighter-bomber |
3 |
| flown by the late U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Bill Pachura, a |
4 |
| Clinton County native, will be permanently displayed in |
5 |
| Centralia as a tribute to those who fought in the Vietnam War; |
6 |
| a dedication ceremony for the bomber will be held on Saturday, |
7 |
| April 29, 2006; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, The plane was assigned to Lt. Col. Pachura during |
9 |
| the Vietnam War, when he flew 129 bombing missions over North |
10 |
| Vietnam in 1968; after the war, the plane was assigned |
11 |
| temporarily to the Kansas National Guard before landing at |
12 |
| Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where the plane |
13 |
| has been used for security training for years; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, The F-105 will sit in a prominent location along |
15 |
| IL Route 161, which skirts Fairview Park in Centralia; it joins |
16 |
| a T-33 Shooting Star, also flown by Lt. Col. Pachura, which was |
17 |
| placed in Fairview Park almost 40 years ago; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, A military parade honoring local veterans will |
19 |
| precede the dedication Ceremony in Fairview Park on the west |
20 |
| side of Centralia; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Lt. Col. Pachura had two Distinguished Flying |
22 |
| Cross awards and passed away on November 8, 2002; much of his |
23 |
| family will be present for the dedication ceremony; therefore, |
24 |
| be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
26 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
27 |
| we recognize the dedication of the Red River Queen, a plane |
28 |
| that truly will stand as a tribute to those like Lt. Col. Bill |
29 |
| Pachura, who valiantly fought for our country during the |
30 |
| Vietnam War; and be it further
