| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Tommy Lee Waskom is retiring from his position as |
3 |
| professor of the School of Technology at Eastern Illinois |
4 |
| University after 38 years in education; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in industrial |
6 |
| education from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Industrial |
7 |
| Education from East Texas State University; he is a Certified |
8 |
| Senior Industrial Technologist and holds several Texas teacher |
9 |
| certificates; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, In his role at Eastern Illinois University, he has |
11 |
| been responsible for approximately three-quarters of a million |
12 |
| dollars of donations of scholarships, equipment, teaching |
13 |
| materials, and numerous funded grants; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, He is a member of the American Welding Society, |
15 |
| the National Association of Industrial Technology, the Society |
16 |
| of Manufacturing Engineers, the Engineering Technology |
17 |
| Society, the American Society of Engineering Educators, and a |
18 |
| life member of the Texas State Teachers Association; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, He has been the recipient of numerous honors and |
20 |
| awards; some of the highlights of his awards and honors include |
21 |
| being the recipient of the Outstanding Professor Award in 2000 |
22 |
| and the Faculty Excellence Award in 1995; he was chosen as the |
23 |
| Faculty Marshall for the EIU graduation in the Spring of 2004; |
24 |
| he was Interfraternity Council Faculty Member of the Month in |
25 |
| September of 2003 and received a Certificate of Appreciation |
26 |
| from Alpha Phi Omega in 2001; and he was the Faculty Advisor |
27 |
| for the Most Outstanding NAIT Student Chapter in the nation |
28 |
| during the 1990-91 school year; he was also the recipient of |
29 |
| many honors when he taught at Texas A&M University; and

| WHEREAS, During his career, he has been a Professor at the |
