| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize Maurice "Maury" |
4 |
| Doyle on the occasion of his retirement as Macon County |
5 |
| Democratic Party Chair; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Maurice "Maury" Doyle was born in Fayette County |
7 |
| on June 28, 1938; he graduated from Niantic-Harristown High |
8 |
| School in 1956 and DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago in |
9 |
| 1959; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He married Frances Elaine Smith in June of 1959; |
11 |
| he is the father of Jeff, Jay, and Mendi and the proud |
12 |
| grandfather of Casey Doyle and Kyle Doyle; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He has served his community in many capacities, |
14 |
| including as a Khoury League Baseball Coach from 1967 to 1987 |
15 |
| and as a member of the Harristown Fire Dept. from 1960 to 1966; |
16 |
| he was appointed Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Charles Peters, |
17 |
| serving from 1962 to 1966; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, He was the owner of Communication Co. from 1966 to |
19 |
| 1991; he has been the co-owner of "Franny's on Merchant" since |
20 |
| 1993 and is a member of the Downtown Decatur Council; he was a |
21 |
| charter member of the Harristown Village Board, serving from |
22 |
| 1970 to 1974; he served as a school board member for the |
23 |
| Niantic Harristown School District from 1972 to 1979 and was |
24 |
| appointed Harristown Township Supervisor in January of 1971; he |
25 |
| was then elected Supervisor in April of 1971 and still serves |
26 |
| today; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, As Supervisor he automatically became a member of |
28 |
| the Macon County Board of Supervisors in 1971 and 1972, and he |
29 |
| was elected to the Macon County Board, serving from 1976 to |
30 |
| 1980; he also served as the Deputy Coroner under Chris Vallas |
