| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois congratulate the Libertyville High School |
4 |
| Mock Trial Team for its achievement in its inaugural year of |
5 |
| reaching the Illinois State Mock Trial Tournament held the |
6 |
| weekend of March 3 and 4, 2006; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois State Bar Association has |
8 |
| administered the Illinois High School Mock Trial Competition |
9 |
| for many years, affording students at the high school level the |
10 |
| opportunity to argue a civil or criminal trial before judges in |
11 |
| regional competitions throughout Illinois, preparatory to the |
12 |
| State Competition in Springfield; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Libertyville High School owes the creation of its |
14 |
| Mock Trial Team to the efforts of Daniel Porter, a 2005 senior |
15 |
| who persevered in convincing the administration of District 128 |
16 |
| that a Mock Trial Team would find a constituency within the |
17 |
| student body; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, The Libertyville High School Mock Trial Team did |
19 |
| in fact attract some of the best and brightest of the high |
20 |
| school, including freshmen students Amanda Muskat and Jessica |
21 |
| Pacholski; sophomore students Thomas Lehn and Katherine |
22 |
| Morton; junior Taylor O'Brien; and seniors Daniel Porter, |
23 |
| Anthony Marcheschi, Michael Ding, and Sean Clement; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, Faculty sponsor and attorney coach Dennis J. Duffy |
25 |
| was joined by George Strickland, the head of the Criminal |
26 |
| Prosecution Division of the Office of the Lake County State's |
27 |
| Attorney, whose assistance in preparing the Team for |
28 |
| competition was indispensable; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, The skills developed by participants on the |
30 |
| Libertyville High School Mock Trial Team include public |
