| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the |
3 |
| Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate |
4 |
| Sammie Lee and Rochelle Young on the occasion of their 50th |
5 |
| wedding anniversary; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Young were married on December 18, |
7 |
| 1955, in Chicago; they have resided in the 21st Ward for 41 |
8 |
| years; and |
9 |
| WHEREAS, They have four children, Sammie, Larry, Terry, and |
10 |
| Reginald (deceased), who all became law enforcement officers; |
11 |
| they also have six grandchildren; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Sammie Lee Young, Sr., has been a longshoreman for |
13 |
| the past 50 years; he is an active member of the International |
14 |
| Longshoremen's Union, a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner (Rolling |
15 |
| Nobles), and has supported both his wife and children in their |
16 |
| successful endeavors; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Rochelle Young is the founder of Granny's House, a |
18 |
| not-for-profit shelter located in the Englewood community that |
19 |
| serves abused and homeless women and their children; she has |
20 |
| spent the majority of her adult life working for the betterment |
21 |
| of women and children; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Young is currently a foster mother to five |
23 |
| children; she worked for 20 years for the Chicago Public |
24 |
| Schools in the Food Services Department as the lunchroom |
25 |
| manager; for 12 years, she owned and operated A-Young Kuddly |
26 |
| Care, a day care service for children; for 10 years, she |
27 |
| provided a food catering service; and for four years, she |
28 |
| operated ROZ Bus Service for day care children; she is an |
29 |
| Eastern Star member; and
