| WHEREAS, The Rams varsity football team of Mt. Vernon |

| Township High School, under the leadership of head coach Dan |

| Mings, ended the 2005 regular season with a 9-0 record, the |

| first undefeated regular season for Rams football since 1985; |

| and

| WHEREAS, The Rams' 25-21 victory in their final game of the |

| regular season against the Newton Eagles was a thrilling |
9 |
| spectacle that demonstrated the Rams' impressive ability to |
10 |
| come back from an 11-point deficit to defeat their opponents; |

| and

| WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of the entire team |

| and of their coaches has earned the team an opportunity to |
14 |
| compete in the Class 6A Illinois High School Association |
15 |
| playoffs where they continued their outstanding performance in |
16 |
| the first round, defeating opponents Champaign Central High |
17 |
| School; and
