| WHEREAS, Dave Krahn, an Oswego Village Board Trustee and |
3 |
| founding director of the Oswego Economic Development |
4 |
| Corporation Board, has retired; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Krahn served on the Village Board of Trustees |
6 |
| from 1993 to 1997 and 1999 to 2005; during his first term, he |
7 |
| founded the Oswego Economic Development Corporation (OEDC), |
8 |
| which opened for business on March 1, 1996; he served as |
9 |
| Chairman of the OEDC Board of Directors from 1996 to 1997 and |
10 |
| 2000 to 2004; during his tenure as OEDC Chairman, Oswego became |
11 |
| a regional retail destination with the development of Oswego |
12 |
| Commons, a 500,000-square-foot shopping center; many national |
13 |
| retailers and restaurants have selected sites in Oswego, and |
14 |
| several other shopping centers on Route 34 and on Orchard Road |
15 |
| are now under construction; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Also during his tenure, the redevelopment of |
17 |
| downtown Oswego was begun, including the development of a new |
18 |
| downtown comprehensive plan; several downtown projects have |
19 |
| been completed or are under construction, including Washington |
20 |
| Place, the first new commercial building built in Oswego in two |
21 |
| decades; the village also saw the build out of its largest |
22 |
| business park and the second phase of another business park; |
23 |
| several other significant projects were completed during his |
24 |
| tenure, including the 112,000-square-foot Anfinsen Assembly |
25 |
| facility and the 25,000-square-foot Dreyer Medical Clinic |
26 |
| building; and
|
27 |
| WHEREAS, In 2003, the OEDC launched the Oswego Visitors |
28 |
| Bureau, which promotes visitors to the community; last year, |
29 |
| AmericInn Lodge & Suites became the second hotel to open in |
30 |
| Oswego;
Mr. Krahn is still active in the OEDC and currently |
31 |
| chairs the OEDC's capital campaign, which is raising funds for |
32 |
| the OEDC's new office space in downtown Oswego; he also serves |
