| WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the |
| 3 |
| Illinois House of Representatives congratulate Carol Conway, a |
| 4 |
| Morgan Park High School English teacher, on her retirement; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, From 1971 to 1977, Ms. Conway taught English at |
| 6 |
| Morgan Park High School; from 1977 to 1988, she taught English |
| 7 |
| at Hyde Park Career Academy; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Conway returned to Morgan Park in 1988 and has |
| 9 |
| taught English III, AP, and creative writing; she has also |
| 10 |
| served as a NHS advisor from 1991 to 2000 and an IB Diploma |
| 11 |
| coordinator from 1999; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, She received her BA degree in English from St. |
| 13 |
| Mary of the Woods College in 1971 and her MA degree in English |
| 14 |
| from CSU in 1977; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, She has received numerous awards, including the |
| 16 |
| Coca Cola 2005 Joseph B. Whitehead Educator of Distinction |
| 17 |
| Award; the 2001 Suave Performance Plus Award; the 1999 Chicago |
| 18 |
| Shakespeare Theatre's Teacher Advisory Board; and the 1998 |
| 19 |
| Golden Apple Finalist; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In 1999, her creative writing students presented |
| 21 |
| "Shakespeare Alive" at the Drake Hotel for the International |
| 22 |
| Council of Teachers of English; in 1997, she gave a |
| 23 |
| presentation at NYU for the National Council of Teachers of |
| 24 |
| English on service learning projects; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Conway's influence as an English teacher will |
| 26 |
| continue in the hearts and minds of her students; therefore, be |
| 27 |
| it
