| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The Illinois Tollway is a vital part of |
| 3 |
| Northeastern Illinois transportation infrastructure; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Toll booths are a requirement of building and |
| 5 |
| maintaining Tollway roads; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Communities are greatly impacted by the decisions |
| 7 |
| the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority
makes, and the |
| 8 |
| relocation of a toll plaza can drastically alter local |
| 9 |
| economies; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, The relocation of a toll plaza from Waukegan to |
| 11 |
| Gurnee will hurt the local
economy; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Drivers will instead use already congested local |
| 13 |
| roads to avoid paying tolls; therefore, be it
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 |
| we direct the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority to cancel |
| 17 |
| any pending plans to move any toll plazas; and be it further
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, That we direct the Illinois State Toll Highway |
| 19 |
| Authority to institute policies to have a series of public |
| 20 |
| hearings to hear
from community leaders on the impact of such |
| 21 |
| changes; and be it further
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That we direct the Illinois State Toll Highway |
| 23 |
| Authority to perform economic studies before changing the |
| 24 |
| location of any
toll plazas in the future; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be delivered to |
| 26 |
| the directors of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and |
| 27 |
| to the Governor.
