| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois join with Representative Monique Davis in |
4 |
| congratulating Charles L. Alexander, Principal of Morgan Park |
5 |
| High School, on the occasion of his retirement after 40 years |
6 |
| of service in the field of education; and |
7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Alexander holds degrees from the University of |
8 |
| Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Arkansas (B.A., History and |
9 |
| Government); Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago |
10 |
| (M.ED., Urban Education); and Chicago State University Chicago |
11 |
| (M.A., Educational Administration; he continued his education |
12 |
| at Northeastern Illinois University, Governors State |
13 |
| University, Chicago State University, and completed 36 hours of |
14 |
| graduate study in the Staff Development Program through the |
15 |
| Chicago Board of Education; and |
16 |
| WHEREAS, He began his educational career as a history |
17 |
| teacher at DuSable; in 1970, he moved to Morgan Park High |
18 |
| School as a history teacher, where he went on to hold the |
19 |
| positions of Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and finally |
20 |
| Principal; from 1970 to 1975, he worked with the YMCA, and he |
21 |
| worked as a CETA Program Specialist for The Mayors Summer Youth |
22 |
| Employment Program for the Chicago Board of Education from 1976 |
23 |
| to 1998; he also served as the JPTA Coordinator for the Chicago |
24 |
| Board of Education from 1983 to 1990 and as an instructor in |
25 |
| the City College of Chicago Adult Evening School from 1981 to |
26 |
| 1983; and |
27 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Alexander received the Principal of |
28 |
| Excellence Award in 1995 and the Outstanding Principal |
29 |
| Leadership Award in 1998; he is a member of the Chicago |
30 |
| Principals and Administrators Association, the NAACP, Phi |
31 |
| Delta Kappa Education Fraternity, NASSP, and the Association |
32 |
| for Supervision and Curriculum Development; and |
