| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Dr. Harry P. Rossi will retire as the |
3 |
| Superintendent of Schools in Northbrook/Glenview School |
4 |
| District 30 at the completion of the 2004-2005 school year; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Rossi is also an Adjunct Professor of |
6 |
| Education at Loyola University Chicago where he received his |
7 |
| Doctorate of Education degree in 1985; during his career, he |
8 |
| has served in virtually every administrative capacity from |
9 |
| Assistant Principal to Superintendent of Schools; moreover, he |
10 |
| has taught at every level from elementary through the |
11 |
| university level in the Chicago area; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to his Superintendent and university |
13 |
| teaching duties, he serves on many boards including ED-RED, |
14 |
| which represents the interests of over 300,000 suburban |
15 |
| children, Character Counts Coalition, Northern Suburban |
16 |
| Special Education District, and Casa de los Ninos, which builds |
17 |
| and staffs foster homes for abused and neglected Hispanic |
18 |
| children in Chicago; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Among his leadership activities, Dr. Rossi has |
20 |
| served as a President of the Illinois Association of School |
21 |
| Administrators, Character Counts Coalition Treasurer, Judge of |
22 |
| the Chicago Tribune All-State Academic Team, Fellow in the |
23 |
| Institute for Educational Leadership, and Co-Chair of the |
24 |
| Italian American Superintendents Organization; Dr. Rossi has |
25 |
| presented internationally on school leadership topics; he has |
26 |
| presented and participated at Oxford University, England, and |
27 |
| has consulted with university faculty, Ministry of Education |
28 |
| officials, and school leaders in New Zealand; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, National presentations have included topics such |
30 |
| as Collaborative Decision Making, Interest-based Bargaining, |
31 |
| and Data-based Decision Making; locally, Dr. Rossi has keynoted |
