| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, For 34 years, Deborah Miller has diligently served |
3 |
| as a member of the Schaumburg Township District Library Board; |
4 |
| during that time, she has served as president, secretary, and |
5 |
| treasurer, and has chaired each committee of the board; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Miller has been honored in many ways during |
7 |
| her tenure on the Library Board; she was the winner of the |
8 |
| Trustee Citation for 1985 from the American Library |
9 |
| Association; the Trustee Citation is given each year to an |
10 |
| outstanding trustee in the United States who has given |
11 |
| distinguished service to library development; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, In 2002, she was honored as a recipient of the |
13 |
| Studs Terkel Humanities Service award; she was an Illinois |
14 |
| Library Trustee of the Year and National Library Trustee of the |
15 |
| Year; she was also recognized as the White House Conference on |
16 |
| Libraries and Information Services Task Force "Citizen of the |
17 |
| Year" and received the Illinois Library Association |
18 |
| Intellectual Freedom Award; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, She was a board member and past president of the |
20 |
| North Suburban Library System from 1972 to 1978 and was a |
21 |
| charter member of the Hoffman Estates-Schaumburg League of |
22 |
| Women Voters; she also served on the Illinois Board of |
23 |
| Education for a time; and |
24 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Miller has served as vice-chairman of the |
25 |
| Hoffman Estates Arts Commission since its inception in 1997; |
26 |
| she was also a member of the Schaumburg Township |
27 |
| Sesquicentennial Committee and is a member of the Schaumburg |
28 |
| Township Historical Society; and
|
29 |
| WHEREAS, She is especially proud of the work she put into |
30 |
| the construction of the Schaumburg Township branch library on |
