| WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the Illinois House |
3 |
| of Representatives that Michelangelo Scafidi III has completed |
4 |
| the necessary requirements to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout, |
5 |
| the highest advancement rank within the Boy Scouts of America; |
6 |
| and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, On November 29, 2004, he passed his Eagle Board of |
8 |
| Review; less than two percent of all scouts achieve this rank; |
9 |
| and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, Michelangelo has also received the Parvuli Dei |
11 |
| Religious Award, the Conservation Award, and the Bronze Eagle |
12 |
| Palm; he will be presented his official Rank by Dave Klempier, |
13 |
| Scoutmaster, at The Eagle Court of Honor which will be held on |
14 |
| April 10, 2005; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, Itasca Boy Scout Troop 409 is very proud of their |
16 |
| newest Eagle Scout; Michelangelo is an Itasca resident and |
17 |
| Driscoll Catholic High School honor student; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, In order to become an Eagle Scout, a scout must |
19 |
| complete 21 merit badges, have community service hours, and do |
20 |
| an Eagle project that benefits the community; Michelangelo's |
21 |
| Eagle project, which took over 135 man hours to complete, is |
22 |
| located on St. Peter the Apostle's Church property; with the |
23 |
| help of numerous other scouts, he constructed a seating and |
24 |
| fire pit area for use by youth groups and parishioners; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, Michelangelo has accumulated 31 merit badges to |
26 |
| date and has attended several Boy Scout summer camps in |
27 |
| Wisconsin; in addition, in the summer of 2004, he went on a |
28 |
| 30-mile, week-long mountain trek in the mountains of New Mexico |
29 |
| at the world renown Philmont Scout Ranch as part of an |
30 |
| eight-man crew from scouts all over the United States; and
