| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Alexander Bailey Crackel |
3 |
| of England was killed in action February 24, 2005, along the |
4 |
| Iraq/Kuwait border, when a bomb exploded near his truck; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Crackel considered the Army a great |
6 |
| challenge and a chance to gain another family; he had the |
7 |
| military in his blood, with several members of his family |
8 |
| having served in the military, including his father and |
9 |
| brother; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, He had spent several years in England and |
11 |
| graduated from the equivalent of high school across the ocean; |
12 |
| in 1998, he decided to join the Army and become a career Army |
13 |
| man; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, He had received the Meritorious Service Medal, |
15 |
| Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service |
16 |
| Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War |
17 |
| on Terrorism Service Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, |
18 |
| Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Weapons |
19 |
| Qualification Badge (M16a2-Expert); and
|
20 |
| WHEREAS, He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart |
21 |
| Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and the Bronze Star Medal; |
22 |
| and
|
23 |
| WHEREAS, He will be remembered as a quiet man who had a |
24 |
| great sense of humor and was always cracking jokes; and
|
25 |
| WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife and 7-year-old daughter |
26 |
| in England; his father, Clinton E. Crackel of North Aurora; his |
27 |
| mother in England, and his brother, James; therefore, be it
|
