HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois were grieved to learn of the death of
4 Lawrence E. Burke on Tuesday, February 8, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Burke attended Leo High School and went on to
6 earn a BS in biology and an MS ED in education administration
7 from Illinois State University; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Upon graduation, he taught junior high science and
9 geography in the Chicago area; he worked at Illinois State
10 University as an Administrator in the student teaching office;
11 he also worked at the Chicago Board Options Exchange, Capital
12 Resources Advisors/SEI Corporation in Funds Evaluation, and
13 retired from Marco Consulting Group as a Data Liaison; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mr. Burke's love of music was extensive, from
15 Lyric Opera in Chicago to Broadway shows in New York; he was an
16 active member of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus for the past 18
17 years, singing lower Bass and acting as GALA coordinator; he
18 was an avid square dancer with Chi-Town Squares since 1993; his
19 love of travel, especially via train, took him to all parts of
20 the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe, and he was a
21 member of the National Association of Railroad Passengers; and
 
22     WHEREAS, His love of life, kind smile, and gentle caring
23 will be missed by his many friends and all those he touched
24 over the years, especially his partner in life, Rob Sierzega;
25 his father, John Burke; his brother, David (Terese) Burke; his
26 sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alexandra (Jerry) Dilley,
27 Fred (Bernie) Sierzega, and David Sierzega; his nieces and
28 nephews, Lisa, Molly, and Kyle Burke, Diane (Zig) Gadziala, Sue
29 (John) Schebler, Garrett Dilley, and Brian (Ann) Sierzega; his
30 great-nieces, Camille and Eliza Gadziala and Olivia and Abigail
31 Sierzega; his grand-nephews, Damir and Arthur Schebler; and his

1 many other cherished relatives; he was preceded in death by his
2 mother, Mary Estelle Burke; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we mourn the passing of Lawrence E. Burke, and we extend our
6 sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
7 and loved him; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
10 sympathy for their loss.
