| AN ACT concerning public aid.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 14-8.1 as follows:
|

| Sec. 14-8.1. Language assistance services reimbursement. |
| 8 |
| Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, for inpatient |
| 9 |
| and outpatient services provided on or after January 1, 2006, |
| 10 |
| in addition to rates paid for inpatient and outpatient hospital |
| 11 |
| services under this Code, the Department shall pay each |
| 12 |
| hospital (except for county providers as defined in Article XV |
| 13 |
| of this Code and hospitals licensed under the University of |
| 14 |
| Illinois Hospital Act) an amount as determined by rule of the |
| 15 |
| Department, to reimburse the hospital for the reasonable costs |
| 16 |
| of complying with the Language Assistance Services Act that are |
| 17 |
| attributable to serving Medicaid recipients. To qualify for |
| 18 |
| payments under this Section, the Department may require each |
| 19 |
| hospital to submit an annual report of the costs it incurred in |
| 20 |
| complying with the Language Assistance Services Act.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 |
| becoming law.
