| AN ACT in relation to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation |

| District.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 4 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Property Tax Code is amended by changing |
| 6 |
| Section 15-143 as follows:
|
| 7 |
| (35 ILCS 200/15-143)
|
| 8 |
| Sec. 15-143. Metropolitan Water Reclamation Districts in |
| 9 |
| counties with a
population greater than 3,000,000. All |
| 10 |
| property that is located in a county with a population greater |
| 11 |
| than 3,000,000 and that is owned by a metropolitan
water |
| 12 |
| reclamation district
districts in a county
counties with a |
| 13 |
| population greater than
3,000,000 is exempt.
Any such property |
| 14 |
| leased to an entity that is not
exempt shall remain exempt, and |
| 15 |
| the leasehold interest of the lessee shall be
assessed under |
| 16 |
| Section 9-195 of this Code. The changes made by this amendatory |
| 17 |
| Act of the 93rd General Assembly are declaratory of existing |
| 18 |
| law.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
