Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Provides that a person also commits the offense of reckless conduct when the person causes great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement by any means, if he or she performs recklessly the acts that cause the harm, whether they are lawful or unlawful. Provides that a violation is a Class 4 felony.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 12-5 as follows:
|

| Sec. 12-5. Reckless
conduct.
|

| (a) A person who causes bodily harm to or endangers the |
9 |
| bodily safety of
an individual by any means, commits reckless |
10 |
| conduct if he or she performs
recklessly the acts that
which

| cause the harm or endanger safety, whether they
otherwise are |
12 |
| lawful or unlawful. |

| (a-5) A person who causes great bodily harm or permanent |
14 |
| disability or disfigurement by any means, commits reckless |
15 |
| conduct if he or she performs recklessly the acts that cause |
16 |
| the harm, whether they otherwise are lawful or unlawful.

| (b) Sentence.
|
18 |
| Reckless conduct under subsection (a) is a Class A |
19 |
| misdemeanor. Reckless conduct under subsection (a-5) is a Class |
20 |
| 4 felony.
