SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gene Austin Troutman of Vienna, who
4passed away on January 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was born in Carbondale to Charles
6and Stella (Smith) Troutman on September 25, 1928; he attended
7elementary, grade school, and high school in Carbondale before
8being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he
9trained at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin and served from 1950 to
101952; he married Margaret Lowery on November 18, 1994; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman pursued training in mechanics and
12television electronics and broadcasting, which aligned with
13his passion for electronics; he worked for General Electric in
14New York as a maintenance engineer before returning to
15Southern Illinois when the plant closed; later, he worked for
16and retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in
17Vienna; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was an active member of Vienna
19First Baptist Church; he enjoyed tinkering with electronics in
20his spare time and loved spending time with his grandchildren
21and great-grandchildren; his favorite movie, Short Circuit,
22reflected his playful personality and his deep love for

1technology; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was known for his quick wit, strong
3opinions, and spunky personality; his intelligence and ability
4to solve problems were only matched by his sharp sense of humor
5and playful spirit; he was never afraid to speak his mind and
6was loved for his lively presence and candid nature; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was preceded in death by his
8parents, Charles and Stella; his brother, Levere; his sister,
9Kathleen; and his stepson, Anthony Buchan; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gene Troutman is survived by his wife, Margaret
11Troutman; his stepchildren, Patrick Buchan and Amy Holloman;
12his grandchildren, Jessica Buchan (Travis Thomas), Seth (Macy)
13Holloman, and Gabriel Holloman; and his great-grandchildren,
14Laelle and Emet Holloman; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Gene Austin Troutman and extend our sincere condolences to his
18family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Gene Troutman as an expression of
