2 | | WHEREAS, Parental alienation is recognized as a behavior |
3 | | by a parent or another trusted adult, such as a grandparent, |
4 | | aunt, uncle, or similar figure, that may unintentionally or |
5 | | intentionally disrupt the relationship between a child and a |
6 | | parent; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Such behaviors, including disparaging comments |
8 | | about the other parent, restricting contact, discouraging |
9 | | communication, or fostering unfounded fears, can create |
10 | | barriers to a child's emotional and psychological well-being |
11 | | by undermining their relationship with a caregiver; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Research by the Parental Alienation Study Group |
13 | | indicates that approximately 3.9 million children in the |
14 | | United States are affected by moderate to severe forms of |
15 | | parental alienation, and studies further show that over 22 |
16 | | million parents in the United States may experience challenges |
17 | | related to parental alienation; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Parental alienation is a matter of concern for |
19 | | the mental and emotional health of children and families, |
20 | | highlighting the importance of raising awareness and fostering |
21 | | understanding to address and mitigate such behaviors; |
