SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate the Village of Riverside on the occasion of the
4Village's 150th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Established in 1875, the Village of Riverside is
6celebrating its sesquicentennial, marking 150 years of
7history, community, and progress; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Riverside is renowned for its visionary design as
9one of the first planned suburban communities in the United
10States, featuring the groundbreaking work of Frederick Law
11Olmsted and Calvert Vaux; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The residents of Riverside have upheld this
13legacy by fostering a community rooted in tradition,
14innovation, and stewardship of its historic character; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Sesquicentennial Planning Committee, composed
16of dedicated trustees and residents, has organized a year-long
17celebration to honor the Village's rich history and vibrant
18future; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Village of Riverside seeks to commemorate
20this historic milestone by sealing a time capsule at the

1conclusion of the sesquicentennial celebrations, preserving
2reflections, aspirations, and congratulations for future
3generations; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the
6Village of Riverside on its 150th anniversary, and we extend
7heartfelt congratulations to its residents, past and present,
8for their enduring commitment to preserving the community's
9historic and cultural heritage; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11delivered to the Village of Riverside as a symbol of our esteem
12and respect.
