SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ralph Vernon Froehling of Canton, who
4passed away on January 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling, the son of Arthur and Julia
6(Wilkenning) Froehling, was born in Harvey on October 5, 1928;
7he graduated from Cissna Park High School; he enlisted in the
8U.S. Army, serving from 1946 to 1948; with funding from the
9G.I. Bill, he attended the University of Illinois and was
10accepted into the University of Illinois Law School, earning
11his Juris Doctor in 1952; he married Jean Millington at Wesley
12United Church in Canton on January 27, 1952; he was recalled to
13active duty during the Korean War and served in the Advocate
14General Department of the Army; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling began his legal practice in Oak
16Park and then practiced law in Galesburg; he joined the
17Chiperfield Law Firm in Canton in 1956; attorneys Ron Weber
18and Nancy Schell became partners years later, and the firm is
19currently known as Froehling, Weber & Schell; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was recognized as Senior
21Counselor by the Illinois Bar Association in 2002; and

1    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was an active member of his
2community, serving in the Kiwanis Club of Canton and the
3Canton Rotary Club as well as on the Board of the
4Parlin-Ingersoll Library Board of Trustees and with other
5local organizations; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was preceded in death by his
7brother, Harold, and his sister, Alice; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling is survived by his wife, Jean;
9his sons, Alan Froehling, John Froehling, and David Froehling;
10his daughter, Lynn (Brian) Martie; eight grandchildren; 12
11great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews,
12great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Ralph Vernon Froehling and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Ralph Froehling as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
