2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Ralph Vernon Froehling of Canton, who |
4 | | passed away on January 9, 2025; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling, the son of Arthur and Julia |
6 | | (Wilkenning) Froehling, was born in Harvey on October 5, 1928; |
7 | | he graduated from Cissna Park High School; he enlisted in the |
8 | | U.S. Army, serving from 1946 to 1948; with funding from the |
9 | | G.I. Bill, he attended the University of Illinois and was |
10 | | accepted into the University of Illinois Law School, earning |
11 | | his Juris Doctor in 1952; he married Jean Millington at Wesley |
12 | | United Church in Canton on January 27, 1952; he was recalled to |
13 | | active duty during the Korean War and served in the Advocate |
14 | | General Department of the Army; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling began his legal practice in Oak |
16 | | Park and then practiced law in Galesburg; he joined the |
17 | | Chiperfield Law Firm in Canton in 1956; attorneys Ron Weber |
18 | | and Nancy Schell became partners years later, and the firm is |
19 | | currently known as Froehling, Weber & Schell; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Ralph Froehling was recognized as Senior |
21 | | Counselor by the Illinois Bar Association in 2002; and |
