SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate the Havana Church of Christ on the occasion of 
4its 75th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Havana Church of Christ held its first 
6gathering at a private home on August 23, 1950, and the church 
7was subsequently incorporated with 52 charter members on 
8October 1, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Havana Church of Christ stands atop land 
10located at 350 South Broadway in Havana that was originally 
11purchased in 1952; over the decades, the church has undergone 
12additional expansions to become the full-scale church and 
13fellowship hall it is today; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Havana Church of Christ has become known for 
15its compassionate care for those in need, providing assistance 
16to the downtrodden and transient community, as well as being 
17active in supporting the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus 
18Christ both locally and abroad, particularly in Mexico and 
19Eastern Europe; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Havana Church of Christ also possesses a 
21thriving youth outreach and ministry with an active youth

1group for junior high and high school students; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Havana Church of Christ has been a pillar of 
3the Havana community since its establishment in 1950; 
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the 
7Havana Church of Christ on achieving its 75th anniversary; and 
8be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the Havana Church of Christ as an expression of 
11our esteem and respect.
