Requires the State Board of Education to allow an individual who has received a short-term approval license under the Illinois Administrative Code to extend the validity of the short-term approval license beyond the expiration date if the individual has taken leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Requires the State Board of Education to allow an extension beyond the expiration date equal to or greater than the number of days the individual took for leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. |

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 21B-23 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/21B-23 new) |
7 | | Sec. 21B-23. Short-term approval license. The State Board |
8 | | of Education shall allow an individual who has received a |
9 | | short-term approval license under Part 25 of Title 23 of the |
10 | | Illinois Administrative Code to extend the validity of the |
11 | | short-term approval license beyond the expiration date if the |
12 | | individual has taken leave under the federal Family and |
13 | | Medical Leave Act of 1993. The State Board of Education must |
14 | | allow an extension beyond the expiration date equal to or |
15 | | greater than the number of days the individual took for leave |
16 | | under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. |
