HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump was born in Queens, New
3York to Fred and Mary Trump on June 14, 1946; he attended the
4New York Military Academy and the Wharton School of Finance
5and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania; and
 
6    WHEREAS, President Trump has had a notable career as a
7real estate developer and businessman; he has written more
8than fourteen books; his first book, The Art of the Deal, was
9published in 1987; he hosted and produced the popular
10television show, The Apprentice, from 2004 to 2015; and
 
11    WHEREAS, President Trump announced his candidacy for
12President of the United States on June 16, 2015; he accepted
13the Republican nomination in July of 2016 and was elected
14president on November 8, 2016; he was inaugurated as the 45th
15President of the United States on January 20, 2017; and
 
16    WHEREAS, President Trump's accomplishments during his
17first term included reforming the U.S. tax code, renegotiating
18trade agreements with Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, and South
19Korea, expanding the military, defeating the Islamic State
20(ISIS), responding to the opioid crisis, improving access to
21healthcare for veterans, responding to the COVID-19 global
22pandemic, appointing federal judges, including the nomination

1of three U.S. Supreme Court justices, and lowering the cost of
2prescription drugs; and
 
3    WHEREAS, President Trump was elected to his second term as
4president on November 5, 2024, becoming only the second
5president, along with President Grover Cleveland, to serve two
6non-consecutive terms; and
 
7    WHEREAS, President Trump has been married to his wife,
8Melania, since 2005, and together they have one son, Barron;
9he also has four adult children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and
10Tiffany and 10 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we recognize the life of President Donald J. Trump as he begins
14his term as the 47th President of the United States; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That we congratulate President Trump on his
17birthday on June 14, 2025; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to President Trump as a symbol of our respect and
20esteem.
