HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John L.
4Rask of Victoria, who passed away on January 2, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rask, the son of Lowell and Marilyn
6(Sornberger) Rask, was born in Galesburg on August 31, 1955;
7he graduated from ROVA High School; he married Kristine L.
8Self at the United Methodist Church in Williamsfield on August
915, 1997; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Rask worked for the former Midland Coal
11Company in Victoria for five years; he then owned and operated
12Rask Transportation in Victoria, which he founded in 1979,
13growing his business from one truck and one trailer to 25 fuel
14trailers, 14 dump trailers, a low boy, three tandem axle
15dumps, 30 tractors, three lime spreaders, 11 drivers, 11 owner
16operators, two mechanics, five office personnel, and a
17groundskeeper/truck detailer; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Rask was a member of the United Methodist
19Church in Victoria, a life member of the NRA, and a 40-plus
20year member of Midwest Truckers; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Rask enjoyed tinkering on equipment,

1farming, and feeding his geese and pheasants; he was also a gun
2collector and a big truck lover; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Rask will be remembered as an honest,
4hands-on, hard-working man; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rask was preceded in death by his father,
6his grandfather, and his sister, Marcia; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Rask is survived by Robert (Meta) Rask,
8Jacob (Jessica) Rask, Chance Rask, Derick (Lacy) Dykeman,
9Tyler Dykeman, and James Dykeman; seven grandchildren; his
10mother; his brother, Robert Rask; his nephew, Brandon (Marta)
11Rask; his niece, Nikki Rask; and his loyal companion, Thor;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of John L. Rask and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of John Rask as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
