| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Stewardson's Trinity |
| 4 | | Lutheran eighth grade volleyball team, the Cardinals, on |
| 5 | | winning the 2024 Lutheran Sports Association (LSA) State |
| 6 | | Tournament; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The LSA Tournament included 16 teams and was held |
| 8 | | in Springfield from November 1 through November 3, 2024; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals won their pool by defeating |
| 10 | | Rockford, 25-12 and 25-15, Trinity Edwardsville, 25-18 and |
| 11 | | 25-15, and Bethel Morton, 25-12 and 25-15; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals won against Mt. Prospect, 25-16, |
| 13 | | 20-25, and 25-22, in the first match of bracket play; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals defeated Holy Cross Collinsville, |
| 15 | | 27-25, 25-21, and 25-17, in the final four to reach the |
| 16 | | championship match; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals won the championship match by |
| 18 | | defeating Cross Lutheran of Yorkville, 25-19 and 25-17; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals' latest win of the LSA Tournament |
|

| 1 | | marks the team's third, having previously won in 2013 and |
| 2 | | 2019; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Cardinals players Kalia Friese and Abree Zalman |
| 4 | | were named to the All-Tournament team, with Kalia also earning |
| 5 | | the distinction of being named MVP; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Cardinals are led by Coach Katie Durbin, |
| 7 | | Coach Bridgitte Friese, and Coach Tammy Manhart; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Cardinals include Gia Bostedo, |
| 9 | | Kalia Friese, Tatum Kaufman, Kessler King, Maddy Manhart, |
| 10 | | Gracyn Montgomery, Cora Reed, Hayden Reed, Reese Stigers, |
| 11 | | Lydia Weaver, Alyssa Zacha, Anna Zacha, and Abree Zalman; |
| 12 | | therefore, be it

| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 14 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 | | we congratulate Stewardson's Trinity Lutheran eighth grade |
| 16 | | volleyball team, the Cardinals, on winning the 2024 Lutheran |
| 17 | | Sports Association State Tournament, and we wish the team many |
| 18 | | more successful seasons; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the players and coaches of the Cardinals as a |
| 21 | | symbol of our respect and esteem. |
