SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/2HHHH new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that it is an unlawful practice for any person to charge a consumer an additional fee or surcharge for: (1) not enrolling in an automatic payment program; or (2) requesting business documents, including, but not limited to, invoices and statements, be mailed to the consumer's address rather than delivered electronically.

1    AN ACT concerning business.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2HHHH as follows:
 
6    (815 ILCS 505/2HHHH new)
7    Sec. 2HHHH. Prohibit fees for alternative payment and
8document delivery methods. It is an unlawful practice within
9the meaning of this Act for any person to charge a consumer an
10additional fee or surcharge for: (1) not enrolling in an
11automatic payment program; or (2) requesting business
12documents, including, but not limited to, invoices and
13statements, be mailed to the consumer's address rather than
14delivered electronically.
