1 | | AN ACT concerning business. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
5 | | Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2HHHH as follows: |
6 | | (815 ILCS 505/2HHHH new) |
7 | | Sec. 2HHHH. Prohibit fees for alternative payment and |
8 | | document delivery methods. It is an unlawful practice within |
9 | | the meaning of this Act for any person to charge a consumer an |
10 | | additional fee or surcharge for: (1) not enrolling in an |
11 | | automatic payment program; or (2) requesting business |
12 | | documents, including, but not limited to, invoices and |
13 | | statements, be mailed to the consumer's address rather than |
14 | | delivered electronically. |
