1 | | AN ACT concerning education. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Gender |
5 | | in Sports Act. |
6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
7 | | "Gender of the student-athlete" means the gender the |
8 | | student-athlete was assigned at birth. |
9 | | "Intercollegiate athletics program" has the meaning given |
10 | | to that term in the Student-Athlete Endorsement Rights Act. |
11 | | "Postsecondary educational institution" has the meaning |
12 | | given to that term in the Student-Athlete Endorsement Rights |
13 | | Act. |
14 | | Section 10. Gender-designated sports participation. A |
15 | | student-athlete may participate in an intercollegiate |
16 | | athletics program at a postsecondary educational institution |
17 | | that allows only a single gender to participate in that |
18 | | program only if the gender of the student-athlete is the same |
19 | | gender as the single gender designation for that program. |
