1 | | AN ACT concerning elections. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 9-25.3 as follows: |
6 | | (10 ILCS 5/9-25.3 new) |
7 | | Sec. 9-25.3. Contributions from utilities prohibited. |
8 | | (a) It is unlawful for any public utility to make a |
9 | | campaign contribution to any candidate for State office or |
10 | | political committee organized to support any candidate for |
11 | | State office. As used in this Section, "public utility" has |
12 | | the meaning given to that term in Section 3-105 of the Public |
13 | | Utilities Act. |
14 | | (b) It is unlawful for any water or sewer utility to make a |
15 | | campaign contribution to any candidate for municipal or State |
16 | | office or a political committee organized to support any |
17 | | candidate for municipal or State office. As used in this |
18 | | Section, "water or sewer utility" has the meaning given to |
19 | | that term in Section 9-210.5 of the Public Utilities Act. |
