2025 and 2026 HB1332 Introduced 1/28/2025, by Rep. Debbie Meyers-Martin SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: | | | Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital licensed under the Act must, at the time a patient is being checked in, give the patient an opportunity to designate an emergency contact to be notified if the patient dies or experiences a significant change in condition. If an emergency contact is designated, hospital staff must communicate with the emergency contact and ask whether the emergency contact would prefer to be notified by telephone call, by hospital staff when the emergency contact reaches the hospital, or by some other method. |

1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding |
5 | | Section 11.11 as follows: |
6 | | (210 ILCS 85/11.11 new) |
7 | | Sec. 11.11. Emergency contact collection and policy. A |
