SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death Floyd Edgar Pierce Jr. of Springfield,
4who passed away on December 9, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce, the son of Floyd Edgar Pierce and
6Hazel Marie (Leslie) Pierce, was born in Springfield on
7December 12, 1932; he married Helen Letitia Cantrall on June
816, 1951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce and his wife, Helen, served as
10missionaries in Brazil from 1961 until their retirement in
111996; the couple then returned to Springfield and continued
12their missionary work with the New Jersey-based nonprofit,
13Christian Missions in Many Lands; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce served as an elder at Grace Bible
15Chapel in Springfield, and he taught free Bible correspondence
16courses; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce never met a stranger, and he loved
18to strike up a conversation with anyone about a wide range of
19topics; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce was preceded in death by his parents

1and his sisters, Betty Baker and Pat Beasley; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Floyd Pierce is survived by his wife, Helen; his
3daughter, Susan Elaine (Bob) Whigham; his sons, Eric Kristin
4(Jane) Pierce and Dr. Jonathan Elliott (Mary) Pierce; his
5foster children, Marli Quadros, Claudio Quadros, Ivan Quadros,
6and Roger Nowell; nine grandchildren; and 10
7great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Floyd Edgar Pierce Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Floyd Pierce as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
